Can Anyone Sign Up ?

Yes! When Facebook first started, it used to be arranged in such a way that only very specific people such as students or workers from certain companies were able to sign up and enjoy the features. Nowadays however, anyone can sign up. The only catch is that if you want to be part of the network of a specific workplace or school, you need to use the e-mail address you have from that workplace or school.

How does the service work ?

The main part of the service itself revolves around your profile. Your user profile shows all of the information you want other people to know such as your name, sex, marital status and other interesting information. It also has links to the networks you are a part of and really acts as your central base of operations on Facebook. Most of the stuff you do on Facebook will center around this profile or alternatively be related to it in some way.

Your profile is the screen that you can jump to the other features on the site from and it is also the screen where other people can leave you messages. Part of your profile is what is known as your wall and when a friend of yours or someone you do not have as a friend sends you a message, that message gets posted on your wall for you to see and reply to if you wish.

Can I upload photos to Facebook ?

Absolutely! Facebook allows you to not only upload photos, but it also allows you to create an unlimited number of photo albums to allow you to arrange and categorize your photos. You can attach titles and descriptions to your photos and even use some of them for your main page. When you upload a specific photo, you also get the chance to tag a friend with that photo and if you do this then the photo will appear on their profile page for them to see. The whole process is quite innovative and allows you to easily accomplish anything you wish. There is also the added convenience of you being able to upload photos from your phone directly to your Facebook user account.

How do I keep in touch with my friends ?

There are a number of things that Facebook does to help you do this. When you log into your account the first thing you will see is a news feed. This news feed will let you know what your friends have been up to while you've been logged out and it will also let you know exactly what is going on with your account. You can then take your actions based on this information and therefore it really speeds up the process of you keeping in touch with your friends.

Can I protect my privacy ?

Like most social networking sites, the point of the website is to get your information out there and meet new people. That having been said, Facebook does have a very strict privacy policy. If you want to just release your information to friends and nobody else, you can easily set that up in the privacy section of your Facebook account.
